Tres Hombres Rum Ed. 54 Barbados VIII yr

Pot still distilled from molasses in 2014 on the Foursquare distillery in Barbados, this rum rested in Bourbon barrels until January 2022 when our ship Tres Hombres arrived with Palo Cortado, Ruby Port, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel barrels in Bridgetown.

Four months of sailing through the Caribbean and back to Amsterdam has given this excellent rum a distinctive Tres Hombres finish. Natural fermentation with Caribbean yeast.

In 2022 we decided on an 8 year old rum which seems much older than you would think just by looking at the label. At Foursquare, the rum was transferred from Bourbon barrels into old Palo Cortado, Ruby Port, Pedro Ximénez  and Moscatel barrels and loaded onto the Tres Hombres. This is a centuries-old tradition that has been revived by us for more than ten years now.

Each bottle is lavishly decorated with motifs from the Tres Hombres and their travels. The design with the small handle is reminiscent of old, maritime times. The bottle is closed with a natural cork and sealed with beeswax. Each variety has its own color. To achieve this, the wax is mixed with color pigments that are ground from natural raw materials in a traditional windmill in Zaandam, the Netherlands.

Taste

As soon as the cork is opened, the aroma flows into the room. The rum flows mahogany-colored into the glass and lets the time run down inside the glass.

The nose is spicy, oak is easily recognizable, as well as a pinch of salty caramel. After a minute or two, you can see the light coconut tone that is so typical of Barbados rum, plus some chocolate and spicy tones.

This rum also pairs very well with our Tres Hombres Chocolate!
